Your listening,
your choice.
You can listen and keep notes on this device without sharing them. If you choose to contribute, your responses and activity stay private from other visitors.
This notice covers optional participation in An Error for Humanity. Its purpose is to understand listening preferences and how responses may change after learning the origins of the music. Sharing is separate from Triggerpointed marketing, accounts and purchases.
Two separate choices.
Both purposes start off. You can enable either, both or neither in the listening room’s participation settings. Refusing or withdrawing sharing does not prevent listening, comparison or local note-taking.
- Listening responses
- Shares the choices and source hunches you commit, marked times, and comments you save or edit after opting in. The artist can read these comments privately and compare responses made before and after a reveal.
- Listening activity
- Shares compact playback and navigation information, such as play, pause, seek, excerpt and stage changes, and committed moment selections. It does not record keystrokes, pointer-movement streams or your screen.
No earlier browser-only history is uploaded automatically. Enabling sharing starts a new contribution period; saving or editing a contribution while the relevant purpose is enabled makes that contribution eligible to be sent.
Please keep comments about the music and avoid names, contact details or sensitive personal information.
Private records, limited retention.
Shared records are stored on Triggerpointed’s server hosted by Strato in Germany. Strato provides the hosting infrastructure and may process data to operate and secure that service. They use a random listening identifier and include the relevant excerpt, audio version, source order and timing needed to interpret a contribution correctly. They are pseudonymous personal records, not anonymous comments.
Only the participant, using this browser’s private sharing credential, and the artist, through protected analysis access, can retrieve the corresponding private records. Comments are not displayed to other visitors, sent to an external AI service, or connected to marketing profiles or user accounts.
Raw shared records have a 90-day retention limit from creation. Expired records are removed by the listening service during use and by its maintenance task while running. Analysis is derived from retained records, so withdrawal and deletion remove the associated data from future analysis.
Encrypted database recovery copies use a seven-day rotation on the artist’s private backup storage. Backup maintenance removes expired copies; an offline destination must be checked and cleaned before its copies are used again. Withdrawing removes the live records without waiting for that rotation. A recovery copy never grants permission to reactivate withdrawn or expired participation: a restore stays isolated until current authority and expiry/deletion handling have been checked.
Only grouped results that no longer identify an individual qualify as anonymous statistics. Free text, participant identifiers and private credentials are excluded from anonymous analysis exports. Grouping alone does not make personal data anonymous.
Local notes and the remembered listening journey stay in browser storage until you clear them or your browser removes them. Deleting shared server data does not erase your local notebook.
Software agents have a separate participation path. It records their declared model and audio capability, assigned excerpts, notes and before/after responses for the same artwork. Agent contributions stay separate from human records and expire after 90 days; their private session credential provides export and deletion. Agents cannot retrieve visitor comments. A declared capability or delivered file does not establish that a model perceived the music.
Listening storage does not collect IP addresses, user-agent strings, full request headers or fingerprints. Operational server logs are separate; the general privacy notice states a 30-day log limit.
Change your mind.
Participation settings in the listening room let you inspect or download your shared data, withdraw either purpose, or delete all your shared records. Withdrawal stops future uploads for that purpose, clears pending contributions and deletes its associated server records. Your local notebook remains available.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. A genuinely anonymous result that can no longer be linked to you is no longer a personal record.
We do not collect your name or email address to identify listening records. If you clear this browser’s private sharing credential before deleting the server data, we may be unable to locate those records for you later. Their retention limit still applies. Private credentials are not included in data exports.
You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or a portable copy where applicable. Contact the controller below if you need help; requests are handled without undue delay, normally within one month. You may also complain to the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Optional listening participation is based on consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Optional storage or access on your device follows §25(1) TDDDG where applicable. Local notebook and consent-choice storage support the functions you request; they do not enable server sharing.
This project-specific notice supplements the Triggerpointed privacy notice. Listening contributions are processed for this artwork in Germany; they are not sent to marketing platforms or external AI providers.
